The police brutality lawyers at Haddad & Sherwin LLP obtained an early $5.5 million settlement for a man who was severely beaten with metal batons by deputies. He was attempting to surrender after leading deputies on a 40-minute vehicle pursuit over the Bay Bridge in a suspected stolen car. Little did deputies know, their “Street Justice” beating was captured on a private surveillance camera, and led to the criminal prosecution of two deputies. A third deputy reportedly was fired from the sheriff’s office for stealing a gold necklace from the victim and passing it off to witnesses to buy their silence.
